Bihar Govt Suspends Two IAS Officers Over Corruption Allegations

Patna, May 30(BiharTimes): The Bihar government has suspended two senior IAS officers on charges of corruption, following recommendations based on findings shared by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Special Vigilance Unit (SVU), according to official orders issued on Saturday.

The suspended officers have been identified as Yogesh Kumar Sagar (2017 batch) and Abhilasha Kumari Sharma (2014 batch). Sagar was serving in the Social Welfare Department, while Sharma was posted in the Rural Development Department at the time of the action.

Separate suspension orders issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) stated that documents received from the ED through the SVU, along with supporting evidence and recorded statements, indicated their alleged involvement in corrupt practices.

As per the orders, both officers are accused of obtaining undue monetary benefits through bribery, commissions, and other illicit favours.

The action is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to crack down on corruption within the administrative machinery. Further investigation into the matter is underway.

The remarks have added a fresh political edge to the ongoing dispute over official residences in Bihar, further intensifying the confrontation between the ruling coalition and the opposition.
